About us

The Friends of Wateringbury Church are a locally-based charity which aims to help to maintain, preserve and improve the building and churchyard of St John the Baptist in Wateringbury.  The Friends are managed by a Board of Charity Trustees and are independent from the Parochial Church Council.

Anyone can become a Friend of Wateringbury Church, even if they aren’t churchgoers or even living in the Parish. Our overall aim is to help the church maintain its role at the heart of our village.

We've helped with various maintenance projects, most recently contributing more than £30,000 to help re-shingle the spire and keep the building watertight for generations to come.

We have also donated £6,000 towards the inner door to the church.

Our village events

We run a series of village events in order to raise funds, help foster a sense of community spirit and to have some fun.

Annually we run a series of talks in the church, our world famous Strawberry Tea Party and the Ad hoc events such as the Morgan show.
